I have a couple poems. I wrote them both when I was living in Boston.
Untitled
Change, change
Could you spare her some change
She longs to suck on a fag
Her eyes stare glazed
Lost in a haze
Shoulders drooped like a worn, burlap bag
Please, please
She's begging you please
Take pity on the old, tattered mare
You see, she's lost her way
In this cold, foreign place
All she needs is a twenty for the bus fare
Why of course, of course
I reach out to her, of course
I'll buy you the ticket myself
Just come with us
We'll get you on that bus
You won't have to worry about anything else
Change, change
Just give me your change
You can see it perched on her lips
But without a word
Neither seen nor heard
She drifts back into her foggy trips
Addiction
"Come," he says
Tugging passively at my collar
Whispering softly into my ear
Dissolving the sounds around me
"Hurry," he says
Tapping his finger anxiously
Drumming, pounding against my door
Urgency and fear burning in his eyes
"Run," he says
Grabbing both my hands
Pulling harder, moving faster
Leaving footprints trampled across my day
"Stop," I say
Yanking myself free
Only to find more hands
Grasping, clenching at my ankles, arms, neck
Nothing more is said
He watches me struggle, cry
Pleasure flickering across his face
Nothing more is said
