This morning started early ... a little too early after a late night of cutting out ponies, recording some tunes, and chatting about men, poetry, and ponies. ... I had a design seminar this morning and I wasn't too thrilled about it because it didn't have anything to do about design. It was on meditation. Which is cool! Don't get me wrong, but this morning I think I would have rather slept than listen to a lecture on meditating. And then they had us try meditating for a minute-- that was a mistake. I'm pretty sure everybody in the room fell asleep. There were three highlights from the seminar. One highlight from each speaker:
1. The first speaker used an analogy about feelings. He said that feelings are like ponies! (That perked me up.) You just let the ponies (feelings) wander by, grazing. And when bad ponies try to get in you make sure the gate is shut and let them graze on their way. Don't try to saddle one of those bad ponies! It's never fun.
2. The second speaker continued to speak on meditation. She was the one who tried to have us meditate for a minute. What made her session so good was that she used a powerpoint that had a picture of a baby deer and those baby deer lips were SO CUTE! I sat there for that 45 minutes staring at the baby deer lips curled into a smile, reaching out to me. I was meditating.
3. The last speaker was a message therapist and she taught us how to massage. We got to practice on each other.
